Despite the Prime Minister’s of 10 May 2020 announcement that those who can should return to work, the restrictions on general dental practice remain in place.
The Chief Dental Officer England, NHS England and NHS Improvement published a statement on 11 May 2020:
“Yesterday evening (10 May 2020) the Prime Minister announced the conditional plan to ease restrictions. All dental guidance and Standard Operating Procedures currently in force remain unchanged. The temporary cessation of routine dentistry addresses the safety of patients and of dental teams as well as supporting the public health measures required to slow community transmission of COVID-19. This advice has not changed.”
Unfortunatley this means that we are still only able to provide triage by telephone, which can include the remote provision of advice, painkillers and antibiotic prescriptions. We will refer you if necessary to one of the Urgent Dental Care Hubs in Sheffield, which are now up and running, where face-to-face treatment can be provided in the safest possible environment for patients, dentists, dental nurses and other essential staff.
